The Gift Process

Gifts in support of any Children At Heart Ministry are made to the Children At Heart Foundation, which distributes them to the individual ministry based on need, unless gifts are designated for a specific ministry.

Because the Children At Heart Foundation provides virtually all development and communications support for the individual ministries, more than 95 percent of your gifts go directly to the ministries.

Designated gifts are used by the ministry for the purposes specific in the gift, i.e. for general operating expenses, for capital needs, for equipment, for education, or for other purposes. Undesignated gifts, which make up the bulk of gifts received, are used where the need is greatest.

All gifts made online are immediately acknowledged electronically. Information about credit cards used in making online gifts is not retained by Children At Heart. All gifts received in other ways, for instance through mailed check or in person, are also acknowledged in writing. In addition, donors receive a year-end Gift Report listing their gifts for tax purposes.

All gifts are confidential. From time to time, special circumstances may lead to a public acknowledgement of a gift, but that will not be done without the donor's express permission. In the case of honor or memorial gifts, the honoree or family of memorial designees will be notified of the gift, but the amount of the gift is never disclosed.

For more information about the gift process, including security and confidentiality questions, please contact the Children At Heart Foundation at (512) 255-3668.
