History
What would become Children At Heart Ministries began as Texas Baptist Children's Home in 1950. Mr. And Mrs. Louis Henna of Round Rock founded the Home and then gave it to the Baptist General Convention of Texas. For many years, its primary mission was to serve dependent and neglected children.
Reflecting a changing society, the ministry grew to provide services to families in crisis and the ministry became Texas Baptist Children's Home & Family Services (TBCHFS). In 2001, a decision was made to establish separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations for Texas Baptist Children's Home in Round Rock, STARRY in Round Rock, Miracle Farm in Brenham and Gracewood in Houston.
Effective June 30, 2006, all of the ministries began operating as part of Children At Heart Ministries (CAHM), also a 501(c)(3), which provided general administration, accounting services and property below cost to the ministries named above. At the same time, the Children At Heart Foundation was given responsibility for providing all fundraising, charitable estate planning and communication services for the ministries. A seventh nonprofit, carrying the name of TBCHFS, became the property-holding entity for all of the ministries.
