GoodSearch, GoodShop, Good News
Children At Heart Ministries can now benefit every time you search or shop on the Internet, thanks to GoodSearch and GoodShop.
GoodSearch is a search engine that donates 50 percent of its advertising revenues to charities you designate. GoodShop is an online shopping mall of major merchants who donate a percentage of each purchase to your favorite charity. When you are asked “Who do you GoodSearch for?” or (in the case of GoodShop) “Who do you support?” enter the name of one of our ministries. If you want your support to be used where the need is greatest, enter Children At Heart Ministries. If you want to support a specific ministry, enter Gracewood, Miracle Farm, STARRY or Texas Baptist Children’s Home.
Then, when you visit the GoodShop page, select the merchant you want to visit. There are literally hundreds, ranging from 1-800-Flowers to Zazzle. You’ll be taken to another page that tells you exactly what percentage of your purchase will be donated to CAHM and a link to the merchant’s Web site.
Best of all, the price you pay is exactly the same as you’d pay if you went directly to the merchant’s Web site. The merchants have agreed to help us by participating in GoodShop. Typically the donation to our ministries will range from one to three percent of the purchase price. The only requirement is that you enter the merchant’s Web site through GoodShop.
You can shop hundreds of places. For example, if you are ordering from Best Buy, Amazon, Kohls, Target, Old Navy and many other retailers, access their Web sites through GoodShop.
Need a new Dell or HP computer? Use GoodShop and two percent of your purchase price will go to the ministry of your choice.
Planning a vacation? You’ll find hotel chains like Holiday Inn, Best Western Sheraton and the Choice Hotels group, and you’ll find car rental companies like Enterprise, Dollar and Avis. You can even go to Southwest Airlines’ Vacations Web site and any package you book will mean 2.5 percent of the purchase price for our ministries.
Here’s a good tip: Watch for coupons and special offers, such as 2-for-1 deals and free shipping. Coupon and discount opportunities are clearly marked on the merchants’ Web sites.
Use of the GoodSearch engine pays a benefit based on the number of searches. The more it is used, the better it is for our ministries. There’s no limit and the money comes from advertisers – users don’t pay a dime! It’s powered by Yahoo, so the results are the same as if you used Yahoo to search. (You can even download a GoodSearch toolbar for your Internet browser.)
Of course, Children At Heart isn’t the only nonprofit that uses GoodSearch and GoodShop. But the ones that are most successful are the ones who get friends and supporters to participate. So please help by using it yourself and by telling everyone you know about it. Just send them the links to GoodSearch and GoodShop. It's an easy way to benefit the ministries you love.
