Children's Activities Kids Care The HOPE program provides Kids Care groups at local apartments for elementary age children. Kids Care may include mini lessons focused on social skills, arts/crafts, games and snack. The purpose is to establish and build a positive and nurturing relationship with the children and to provide a consistent influence in their life to guide them to becoming successful individuals. HOPE desires to point out their strengths and equip them with knowledge to make good choices. It provides field trips or day camps at various times during for regular participants. Each group meets once a week at the apartment complex in a location designated by the apartment manager. Children are not required to attend Kids Care but are encouraged to participate.
Youth Leadership Youth Leadership group is designed for middle school and high school residents at local apartments. Youth attend on a volunteer basis to learn about community awareness, helping their neighbors and qualities important to becoming a positive leader. Youth Leadership participants are also involved in various community projects. These projects may include delivering meals to families in the community, planning and participating in holiday activities for children, coordinating food drives, and collecting clothing, and hygiene products for those in need. Activities in weekly group meetings may include arts and crafts, games, snacks, discussions, character building lessons, or planning a community project. The group not only focuses on helping others in the community but also is very intentional about discussing issues that teens are experiencing during sometimes difficult adolescent years. Youth Leadership meetings are a time when these issues can be discussed and knowledge or guidance may be given on how to make positive choices. Field trips and outings are provided during the year to regular participants. Each group meets weekly at the apartment complex in a location designated by the apartment manager. Reader’s Theater In 2003, the HOPE Program developed a partnership with an elementary school in Round Rock to provide after school activities for children. These services are provided at the school. Our current curriculum is called "Reader’s Theatre" and is designed to improve children’s reading skills by encouraging them to act out books in a dramatic form.
